GMC Acadia Limited

While driving the brake vacuum pump exploded leading to catastrophic brake failure. My husband was driving and was able to stand on the brakes to get the car to stop, but had i been driving, I am not strong enough to have stopped the car. I have 3 children with my youngest being 1. I was driving my 2025 GMC Acadia Denali on [XXX] with cruise on. Suddenly sound and banner notifications were telling me that I had no brakes. I immediately hit brake to break cruise and vehicle went faster. I managed to get cruise off from steering wheel. Put flashers on and took foot completely off gas. Sunroof shattered driving on the interstate. Never saw a rock or anything. I think it shattered due to pressure and temperature changes.

Since we purchased our 2022 Acadia 6/24/2022 we have had the warning Service Safety Restraint System pop up randomly. We have mentioned it numerous times over the years when the vehicle has been in for routine service at our local dealership. They have never been able to determine the cause as no service code ever shows up for them. Today in addition to the warning the red air bag warning light also lit up briefly. The rear stationary/fixed sunroof glass spontaneously shattered while i was driving. I heard a loud pop, after i parked i checked the car to see what happened and found a shattered sunroof. There was no impact or known object that struck the glass.
